”Ah, hello? Is this coming through alright? It’s been a long while, so please bear with me if there’s any technical difficulties!”
The tiny boy trembled with nervousness in the cramped room hidden away in the Church’s attic – it was lovely and quiet, certainly; and the tiny room’s small window gave it a lovely look at this time of evening; but with all the electronics and old wiring taking up most of the room… it was a bit hard to appreciate. Add to that the many layers of dust and the script he’d only just had tossed into his lap moments ago that he had to handle, and… well, it was a hard job to take by the horns like this.
”Yes, hello everyone! It sounds like we’re broadcasting fine. I know it’s been a long time, but the Church’s evening radio program is back. I’m the new host, Rosaire Lebeau; here to hear all your questions and confessions in the Lord’s name once more… and maybe I’ll be able to answer a few, too, eheheh… B-But, first, we’re back for a reason – we’ve got big news tonight! I hope everyone interested in the Church is tuning in, because it’s very exciting! O-Oh, but if you’re not with the Church, then you’re quite welcome to join in too! The Lord helps us all, of course!”
“B-But, the news! Just today, the current Bishop of Rome, Vicar of Jesus Christ, Successor of the Prince of the Apostles, Supreme Pontiff of the Universal Church, Primate of Italy, Archbishop and Metropolitan of the Roman Province, Sovereign of the Vatican City State, Servant of the Servants of God – the Pope himself – has resigned from the role. Now, don’t worry! He did so by choice, and a brave one at that. ‘In light of the current issues the Church is facing, I believe it’s time we make great advances and reflections on how we are organised;’ said the resigning Pope in his address today; ‘It has surely come to everyone’s attention that the purist doctrine the Church is currently known for is causing significant friction with the supernatural society of today; friction that can only lead to hatred and frustration from both sides of the issue – discrimination that the Lord would surely frown upon, no matter the scripture said to support it. If we are to truly say we are true believers and free of the sins we frown so deeply upon, we must make huge changes in how our hierarchy views the world and the manner in which we interpret the Lord’s teachings in this new age.’”
“With that announcement, the Papal conclave announced their elected successor inspired by the Pope’s words and recommendation – our father Saint Leo XVI, a very vocal and respected member of the Church’s Vatican whom has shown truly admirable initiative in his many proposals as to how the Church could form a revolution in its handling of the supernatural world. Although I’m still sure there will be a lot of insecurity and instability within the Church for some time over his extreme new policies, I think it’s a huge step in the right direction; a-and the entire foundation will soon see how important this move is! I really hope his beliefs will change the world’s view of the Church for the better.”
“And, on the subject of those beliefs – the biggest change is the introduction of the Purgatory Division; a new part of the clergy which will allow all kinds of… people to serve in the name of the Church. It’s been confirmed so far that otherwise rejected Mystic Kind, humans with psychic potential, followers of the Ki arts, and even some magicians whom believe in the Word of the Lord will be given the chance to serve in the Church! However, it’s expected that they be on their best behaviour… hence the, um, somewhat grim name for the division… but, that’s the wonder of Purgatory! Everyone deserves to have a chance to reach Heaven, so I hope everyone listening who was scared of the Church’s attitude before will consider this amazing opportunity to open their eyes to the grace of the Lord!”
“Ah, that should handle all the news for now, though… so, as per our old schedule, I’ll be conducting interviews and helping people with their questions! I think this would be a great opportunity to hear from the supernatural community with this huge news on our minds, so if there are any Mystic Kind and the like out there whom are listening, please send me your questions and ideas! Unfortunately, tonight I don’t really have an interview organised, and there’s not many submitted questions at all left from when we were last on air… but, don’t worry! There was a submission lately at the Church, a-and I was a bit too nervous to reject it despite the radio show being offline; so I have a question to handle! Um, here it is…”
”Dear person,
I really want to get someone’s attention.
They’re very important to me, but they don’t seem to know.
It’s making me very confused and a bit sad.
What should I do to get them to know that I like them?
I’ve tried telling them, but they just think I’m being nice.
I think I’ll get angry with them if they don’t listen soon.
So I want to make it clear now.
Thanks,
Someone with a Headache”
”W-Well, firstly; thank you for the question, Mister Headache! I think you should think about how you can tell that person in a way they would understand. So… if they like letters, than maybe you should explain yourself in a letter like this one. Or, maybe if they like cooking, you could make a heart-shaped cookie? I’m not the best when it comes to romance, but, I think it’s important to speak the same language as the other person, if that makes sense. I hope that helps, Mister Headache! Please don’t get angry, or else things could get a lot worse – maybe they just need a lot of time to realise what you’re saying.”
“And with that, I’m afraid I’m out of time for tonight. If you enjoyed this show, please tell us and I’ll work on setting aside more time for this so I can answer more of your questions and maybe interview one or two of you if you’re really keen! I hope you all learnt something tonight, and maybe I’ll see you in the new Purgatory Division as well! Next time, I’d like to talk a little about the supernatural community in Lakecrest and some of the goings-on around town that they’ve been involved in.”
“Ah, and before I finish; here is today’s passage from the book of our Lord.
John, 4:7 – ‘Dear friends, let us love one another, for loves comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.’
I think this verse says lot about how we should handle the supernatural within the Church, especially with our old and new Pope’s words on the matter. Even if we’re different, we are all in the Lord’s meadows; and He does not judge between whom he shepherds. He loves us all, as we should love on another. And with that, this is Rosaire Lebeau saying; goodbye, and amen.”
“May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you
In the palm of His hand.”
OOC: This is a bit of an experiment, but I hope that giving something more consistent that allows for people to get involved and gives a rundown on current IC news might help activity a bit. If you like it, please vote as such; and vice-versa if you think it's a pain - any suggestions would be welcome as well. Feel free to PM me any questions from your character for the next episode, too. I'll reach out for any interviews unless you're super keen, though.
